This bill puts LGBTQ students at risk. Outing kids to their parents without their consent could lead to abuse, neglect, and abandonment. Even if the situation isn’t that grim, it is no one but the students place to make such a personal choice.
Jessica Chasse wrote 1 year ago

Schools are sometimes the ONLY safe space for LGBTQ kids. Please do not take that away from them. Please allow a support system to continue. Forcing schools to share information like this is just hurtful. Beyond just LGBTQ safety, which is what this bill is targeting. This takes a safe space away from all students. Not every home life is happy, not every home life is safe. School should be a safe space for a student to feel they can confide in the positive adults in their lives. This is an ugly, hateful bill disguised as "good will".
