Comments on HB 1196

Sue Gibson wrote 6 months ago

This legislation has the potential to do a great deal of harm to populations that suffer from health care disparities.
Michael Dreyer wrote 6 months ago

I oppose HB1196, which eliminates diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) standards in education and training. This bill reduces learning and contribute to negative outcomes and disparities. It makes absolutely no sense to believe that training or statements supporting diversity, equity, and inclusion are "discriminatory ideology". DEI is actually a non-discriminatory ideology.

What do these legislators think DEI is? Diversity, Equity and Inclusion means you accept people as they are, who they are. There should absolutely be NO LAW restricting DEI. Think about it. What if the majority were BIPOC and LGBTQ+ and white heterosexuals were the minority. Would you want the majority writing laws saying that you should not be treated equitably? Diversity, Equity and Inclusion training is about understanding that not everyone thinks the same way you do, that each and every person has beliefs based on their life experiences and each of us have unique life experiences. DEI protects all of US even those who are afraid of it and trying to make it into something bad.
