Comments on SB 39

This bill is a way to harm trans kids and keep them from being able to participate and play with their peers. It is cruel and hurts children who just want to be able to play with their friends. It's a major governmental overreach to tell kids what sports they can or cannot participate in.

The students deprived of athletic opportunity in this bill would be transgender students. I oppose this refusal to acknowledge the reality that transgender students have a right to exist and that their gender identity is simply a normal variation of the human condition. Trans girls are girls. This is also yet another attempt to defund schools.

This is a bill based on fear and ignorance. It is also ridiculous that the Missouri legislature is wasting taxpayer dollars trying to wipe out the right to exist of small group of people. Let the children thrive learn and explore the world as it really is not the way some legislators want it to be.

I am VERY concerned about the current Missouri Senate and House bills regarding sports. I would like to express my opposition to banning transgender youth from the opportunity to play the sports they love alongside their peers. We know that all youth, especially transgender youth, deserve the opportunity to play the sports they love, and experience the valuable lessons of being on a team with their peers, including teamwork, discipline, success, and failure. Failing to support transgender student athletes only perpetuates a culture of bias, and instigates an issue that doesn't exist. The lie that transgender youth are taking opportunities away from other youths, when in fact, they are also just boys and girls wanting to play sports and have fun. Transgender women are WOMEN. It's simple, and by excluding trans women from sports, you are indicating that they are a hypothetical threat, and ignoring the current documented harm against transgender women and girls. This has real impacts on the lives of human beings. I strongly urge you to oppose ALL of these bills.
