Public health comes before religious gatherings.

HB 61 does not protect congregants at religious services or the community. I am listing ten pastors or ministers who held services in defiance of covid warnings or denied the existence of the covid pandemic. Landon Spradlin (Va.) Gerald O Glenn(NY) Irvin Baxter(Tx) Bob Bryant(La) Wade Danner(NC) Todd Dunn(Tx) Mark Price (Va) Phillip Brooks(Mi) Timothy Scott(Miss) Robert Smith Sr(Ca) Robert L Harris (Ca) All have died from a SARS-CoV-2 infection Even more have died. Fifty-nine congregants became covid positive and fifteen congregants were hospitalized after pastor Mark Price became infected and died. And you want these “leaders” to provide for the safety of religious services. These positive cases spill out into the community and become uncontrollable. I see no freedom here. The preservation of public health has historically been the responsibility of state and local governments, not of religious leaders untrained in science or health, like those on the list above. A true religious leader has a priority to protect the health of their flock and the broader community and he/she does not push forth bills that endanger. All are options available via Zoom and other safe means to connect during dangerous and contagious deadly diseases. HB 61 is totally ill advised. Julie Schulze 65807
