Reform is okay but this bill as proposed is too overreaching and will hurt consumers in the long run. This bill will stop people who are eligible for garnishment from repaying debts therefore resulting in Michigan businesses not getting paid for their goods or services. It will also hurt every family or business seeking a credit card, car loan, or mortgage in Michigan. Need a car? Hope you have cash for that. Need a house? Cool! If you have cash. Emergency happen and you need to use the credit card? Too bad. There won’t be one available for you to use.
