The Illinois Senate convened with an invocation and the Pledge of Allegiance. Paul Elders was granted permission to video the proceedings. The Senate Journal from February 17, 2026, was approved, while the approval of the journal from February 24, 2026, was postponed.

Senator Rose introduced Senate Joint Resolution 55 for the appointment of a new Auditor General, recommending Chris Meister and thanking outgoing Auditor General Frank Martino. Senator Ellman supported the resolution, which requires a three-fifths affirmative vote. A roll call vote on the resolution passed with 51 votes in favor.
