Tell Senate Leaders: It’s Time for the Developmental Services Oversight Commission to Meet

New Hampshire’s Developmental Services Quality Council recently completed a seven-month review of how our state protects people with disabilities from abuse, neglect, and other harm. The review identified serious gaps in the system, including delayed investigations, disconnected information, limited transparency, insufficient resources, and weak follow-through.The Quality Council has made recommendations for change. Now we need to make sure those recommendations lead to action.SB 670 became law in July 2026 and created a new Developmental Services Oversight Commission focused on the health and safety of people receiving developmental services. The Quality Council specifically noted that its recommendations can help inform the work of this new Commission. But the Commission has not yet met.The law required its first meeting to be held within 45 days. That deadline has passed, even as the Commission’s first annual report is due November 1.People with disabilities and families should not have to keep waiting for a safer, more transparent, and more accountable system.Contact Senate leaders today and ask them to help ensure the Developmental Services Oversight Commission holds its first meeting and gets to work.
