SB 190 Increasing retirement benefit multiplier of Deputy Sheriff Retirement System Act
Dear Members and Supporters,
I am reaching out to you today to ask for your support for Senate Bill 190, a critical piece of legislation that seeks to enhance the retirement benefits for our dedicated deputy sheriffs. This bill proposes an amendment to the Deputy Sheriff Retirement System Act by increasing the retirement benefit multiplier from 2.5% to 3% of a member’s final average salary, multiplied by their years of credited service. This increase will apply to members who retire on or after July 1, 2018. Our deputy sheriffs put their lives on the line daily to protect and serve our communities. Their dedication and sacrifice deserve to be recognized with a retirement plan that ensures financial stability after years of service. The current benefit structure does not fully reflect the risks and challenges they face. By supporting SB 190, we are taking a necessary step toward honoring their commitment and providing them with a well-earned retirement benefit.
We urge you to stand with us in advocating for this important change. Please take a moment to support our campaign by following this link: [Insert Campaign Link Here]. Your voice and action can make a significant difference in ensuring that those who serve us are taken care of when they retire.
Thank you for your time, support, and dedication to law enforcement professionals in West Virginia. Together, we can make a lasting impact on the well-being of our deputy sheriffs.
Sincerely,
Sean McGowan West Virginia / SSPBA Executive Director Rich Goszka West Virginia Field Representative
