Advocate for Federal Funding for Victim Services

Programs that support survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence nationwide are at risk due to potential funding cuts and difficulties accessing already awarded federal funds. Federal funding is crucial to the safety, stability, and recovery of survivors. Without it, essential services could be disrupted or lost entirely, putting survivors in danger by removing essential support they need to seek safety and begin healing.

Please join the National Day of Action on June 5 by reaching out to your Members of Congress to express concern and ask them to protect existing victim services funding and to support increased funding for victim services across the country. Feel free to personalize the message.

We need your help to protect federal funding for sexual assault and domestic violence services! Please advocate to maintain the FY25 federal funding and fight for increased FY26 federal funding for services to survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence.

As a constituent, I strongly encourage you to advocate for funding to maintain grant programs from the Department of Justice’s Office on Violence Against Women and Office for Victims of Crime, the HHS Office of Family Violence Prevention and Services, and the CDC’s Division of Violence Prevention. These programs are critical to supporting victims. Proposed budget cuts, recent grant cancellations, delays, changes in program structure, staff losses, late release of funding opportunities, and poor communication are creating serious uncertainty and concern among rape crisis centers and other victim services providers.

If funding cuts to these services are made, your constituents will lose essential support and many of them, including critical first responders and care providers, may lose their jobs. To combat sexual assault and domestic violence effectively and directly serve victims, community-based agencies need grants to be reliable, stable, and timely. Please speak out in favor of protecting grants, push for immediate restoration of rescinded funds, and ensure robust investments in FY26. Survivors, their families, and their communities depend on it.
