Keep NH Great

We need your help! Let the politicians know that you want a future where Granite Staters can actually afford to live here!

I'm Matt Mayberry, the CEO of the New Hampshire Home Builders Association, representing over 27,000 hard working men and women in the home building trades.

We all know we are in a housing crisis—but it’s not because builders aren’t ready….

It’s because too many politicians are blocking new homes by stripping away property rights and pushing crazy regulations that just drive up the cost and leave working families out in the cold. It’s wrong—and it’s making the crisis worse.

The bills below do the one thing that bureaucrats hate; we are shifting the power from them and their buddies to YOU, the taxpayer.  30 years of backroom deals are coming to an end but we need your help.

Email your State Legislators here and send them a message that we need more housing: cut the red tape and end the gamesmanship.  Fix it now!

Pro-Housing Legislation
SB 26This bill defines "deposits" as they pertain to consumer requested customizations, upgrades, or change order and allows the use of a security deposit outlined in the consumer’s purchase and sales agreement to pay for it.
SB 84This bill combats low-density sprawl and supports the development of starter homes by limiting single-family home minimum lot sizes to no more than 2 acres. It does not override any NHDES water or sewer requirements.
SB 94This bill creates a uniform statewide building code, ensuring uniformity and consistency across New Hampshire. It reduces red tape and gives consistency for towns, and builders while maintaining strict construction and safety standards.
SB 153This bill, developed in collaboration with NHDOT, streamlines the permitting process for projects accessing public roadways by establishing a new developer-funded review path. It significantly reduces approval timelines from 12–18 months to just 60 days, eliminating costly administrative delays.
SB 163This bill prevents municipalities from placing temporary moratoria on building permits without proper cause. This prevents municipalities from arbitrarily restricting growth and promotes a more stable and predictable housing market.
SB 170This bill would make several minor fixes that significantly reduces red tape and strengthens the property rights of NH homeowners. This bill slashes red tape and eliminates the unnecessary hurdles erected by municipalities.
SB 173:  This clarifies the convoluted process of assessing property taxes on low income housing units.  This removes the loophole for write-offs and fees and creates a straight forward easy to understand methodology for assessing taxes.
SB 174This bill promotes fair and consistent treatment of residential developments by ensuring that planning boards focus on the overall suitability of a project rather than making arbitrary distinctions based on the number of bedrooms, without overriding any current environmental regulations.
SB 188This bill supports faster and more efficient development by allowing NH licensed engineers, architects, and other licensed professionals to conduct building inspections and reviews, reducing delays while maintaining rigorous safety and code compliance standards without any change to town permit fees.HB 577:  This would allow any home owner (some exceptions apply) to construct an accessory dwelling unit (ADU) on their property.  This would allow finished basement, rooms over garages.  These are in effort to help reduce your expenses, provide housing for loved ones and add value to your home.
HB577:  This allows you, the owner of a single family home, the ability to add an accessory dwelling unit (ADU) or often referred to as an “in-law” apartment on your property.  This could be a finished basement or a studio apartment over the garage to adding a stand alone building on your property.  Towns can not deny you this housing option (some restrictions do apply).  This provide both housing and a potential way of lowering your expenses.
