I am writing to you today in opposition of House Bill 668.
 
I don’t support this bill because it violates the constitutional rights of our transgender and nonbinary community by barring access to necessary public health care (hormone replacement, puberty blockers) for them, while keeping it available to cisgender Idahoans. This is textbook discrimination, and I do not support my tax dollars upholding blatant discrimination.
 
This bill also puts hundreds of thousands of Idahoans at large at risk of losing access to all Medicaid funding being distributed to the state. Both federal law and Medicaid rules forbid discrimination when providing services with Medicaid funding. Services must be made available for ANY medically necessary health care, diagnostic treatment or services, and other health care in a person’s individual treatment plan. ALL medically necessary health care services must be available for people enrolled in Medicaid, regardless of their gender identity.
 
This is also an infringement of parent rights. Parents of transgender youth deserve the continued freedom to make responsible health care decisions for their children. Any parent whose child is in need should be able to seek expert medical advice and make decisions guided by their medical provider to enable their child to thrive.  
 
It is important to advocate for policies that support the health and well-being of all Idahoans, regardless of their gender identity. I ask you to please vote NO on HB 668.
