A BILL
for
1 AN ACT relating to courts; authorizing the award of housing
2 assistance to judges and justices as specified; and
3 providing for an effective date.

5 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Wyoming:

7 Section 1. W.S. 5-1-112 is created to read:
8
9 5-1-112. Housing assistance for judges.
10
11 Subject to constitutional and statutory provisions
12 concerning when salaries can become effective, justices of
13 the supreme court and judges of the district courts,
14 chancery courts and circuit courts may receive housing
15 assistance if the judge or justice resides in a county in
16 Wyoming where the average cost of housing is significantly

1 higher than the statewide population weighted average cost
2 of housing. The supreme court shall promulgate rules for
3 the award of housing assistance under this section.

5 Section 2. This act is effective July 1, 2023.
