2021 SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION 95
January 21, 2022 - Introduced by Senators COWLES, CARPENTER, DARLING and NASS,

HESSELBEIN, HINTZ, MAGNAFICI, MILROY, MOSES, OHNSTAD, PENTERMAN, SINICKI,

1 Relating to: honoring the life and public service of Representative William Vander
2 Loop.
3 Whereas, Representative William “Bill” Vander Loop, a public servant,
4 veteran, and dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed
5 away on December 28, 2021, at age 89; and
6 Whereas, Bill was born to Peter and Emma Vander Loop on December 6, 1932,
7 and he grew up in Little Chute, graduating from St. John's grade school and high
8 school; and
9 Whereas, Bill was a loving husband to his wife Joyce and a loving father to their
10 five children; and
11 Whereas, Bill lived an active life and had a lifelong passion for sports, which he
12 passed on to his many children and grandchildren; and
13 Whereas, prior to joining the legislature, Bill worked for 38 years as a wood yard
14 supervisor, and he served his country in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955; and

1 Whereas, Bill was a Korean War Veteran, a member of the VFW Post 3319 of
2 Kaukauna, and a proud member of the American Legion Post 258 of Little Chute for
3 66 years, where he served as commissioner, state vice commissioner, district
4 commander, and post commander; and
5 Whereas, Bill was a member of several other organizations throughout his life,
6 including the Kaukauna Credit Union Board for 30 years, the Kaukauna Utility
7 Board for 18 years, the Moose Club, and the Lions Club International; and
8 Whereas, Bill proudly represented his community for eight years as an
9 alderman for the City of Kaukauna and went on to represent the people of the 5th
10 Assembly District in the Wisconsin State Legislature for another eight years, from
11 1991 until 1999; and
12 Whereas, during his tenure in the legislature, Bill was a tireless advocate for
13 his community, and he served with expertise as vice-chair of the Veterans and
14 Military Affairs Committee and as chair of the Labor and Job Training Committee;
15 and
16 Whereas, Bill is remembered fondly by his colleagues in the legislature as a
17 servant leader who dedicated his life to helping others and continually strived to
18 make his community a better place; now, therefore, be it
19 Resolved by the senate, the assembly concurring, That the members of the
20 Wisconsin Legislature mourn the passing of Representative William Vander Loop
21 and extend their condolences to his family and friends; and, be it further
22 Resolved, That the senate chief clerk shall provide a copy of this resolution to
23 his family.
