EMERSON, BALDEH, HEBL, STUBBS, BROSTOFF, CABRERA, HESSELBEIN, ANDERSON,
SPREITZER, SHELTON, NEUBAUER, B. MEYERS, MCGUIRE, SNODGRASS, HONG,
OHNSTAD, GOYKE, L. MYERS and POPE. Referred to Committee on Senate

1 Relating to: opposing and condemning the actions of Senator Ron Johnson.
2 Whereas, during his current term in office, Senator Johnson has used his
3 position of power to sow division and spread disinformation; and
4 Whereas, in 2020, Senator Johnson's Senate Committee on Homeland Security
5 and Governmental Affairs received the lowest score of any committee in the
6 nonpartisan Lugar Center's Congressional Oversight Hearing Index, which grades
7 the oversight performance of congressional committees; and
8 Whereas, during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, Senator Johnson used
9 his committee's platform to promote unproven drugs and to advance inaccurate
10 claims about how to slow the spread of the virus; and
11 Whereas, following the 2020 presidential election, Senator Johnson used his
12 committee to elevate former President Trump's baseless claims of widespread voter
13 fraud; and

1 Whereas, Senator Johnson threatened to vote against congressional
2 recognition of President Biden's victory, without offering any evidence of the sort of
3 widespread voter fraud he was alleging; and
4 Whereas, since the January 6 attack on our nation's capitol building, which
5 resulted in the deaths of five people, Senator Johnson has mischaracterized the
6 nature of the event and spread falsehoods about those who were responsible; and
7 Whereas, in response to Senator Johnson's outrageous comments about the
8 January 6 attack, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel published an editorial calling on
9 Senator Johnson to resign; and
10 Whereas, this month Senator Johnson sought to single-handedly delay the
11 passage of the most recent stimulus bill by forcing an 11-hour reading of the
12 legislation; and
13 Whereas, just days ago, Senator Johnson said in a radio interview that he was
14 not concerned about the January 6 rioters because, among other things, he knew that
15 they “love this country,” but that he would have been concerned if instead they were
16 Black Lives Matter protesters; and
17 Whereas, Senator Johnson has violated his oath to support and defend the
18 Constitution and neglected his duty to represent the people of this great state; now,
19 therefore, be it
20 Resolved by the senate, the assembly concurring, That the Wisconsin
21 Legislature condemns the actions of Senator Ron Johnson, which have brought the
22 Wisconsin Legislature and the state of Wisconsin into disrepute.
