1 AN ACT to amend 108.04 (3) (b) of the statutes; relating to: the unemployment
2 insurance waiting period.
Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
Currently, a claimant must generally wait one week after becoming eligible to
receive unemployment insurance benefits before the claimant may receive benefits
for a week of unemployment, but the application of the one-week waiting period is
temporarily suspended for benefit years that began after March 12, 2020, and before
March 14, 2021. This bill extends the end date for suspending the one-week waiting
period to September 5, 2021.

The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
3 SECTION 1. 108.04 (3) (b) of the statutes, as affected by 2021 Wisconsin Act 4,
4 is amended to read:
5 108.04 (3) (b) Paragraph (a) does not apply with respect to benefit years that
6 begin after March 12, 2020, and before March 14 September 5, 2021. The

1 department shall seek the maximum amount of federal reimbursement for benefits
2 that are, during the time period specified in this paragraph, payable for the first
3 week of a claimant's benefit year as a result of the application of this paragraph.
