5 Statement of purpose of bill as introduced: This bill proposes to appropriate
6 funds to the Department of Health to grant to the City of Burlington to
7 reimburse the Burlington Fire Department for the costs of providing
8 emergency medical services to individuals experiencing a drug overdose.
9 An act relating to appropriating funds to reimburse the Burlington Fire
10 Department for assisting individuals experiencing a drug overdose
11 It is hereby enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Vermont:
12 Sec. 1. DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH; BURLINGTON FIRE
13 DEPARTMENT; DRUG OVERDOSES; APPROPRIATIONS
14 The sum of $200,000.00 is appropriated from the General Fund to the
15 Department of Health in fiscal year 2025 for the purposes of a grant to the City
16 of Burlington to reimburse the Burlington Fire Department for the costs of
17 providing emergency medical services to individuals experiencing a drug
18 overdose. These funds shall be used to supplement, not supplant, the funds
19 typically appropriated by the City to support its Fire Department.

2 This act shall take effect on July 1, 2024.
