13 Statement of purpose of bill as introduced: This bill proposes to require
14 existing public health campaigns addressing Alzheimer’s disease to also
15 address brain health and reducing dementia risks.
16 An act relating to public health campaigns on dementia and brain health
17 It is hereby enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Vermont:
18 Sec. 1. 33 V.S.A. § 6221 is amended to read:
19 § 6221. PUBLIC EDUCATION RESOURCES

1 The Departments of Health and of Disabilities, Aging, and Independent
2 Living, in consultation with the Commission on Alzheimer’s Disease and
3 Related Disorders established pursuant to 3 V.S.A. § 3058b, shall jointly
4 develop and maintain easily accessible electronic, print, and in-person public
5 education materials and programs on Alzheimer’s disease and related
6 disorders, brain health, and reducing dementia risks that shall serve as a
7 resource for the public, patients, families, caregivers, and health care providers.
8 The Departments shall include information about the State Plan on Aging as
9 well as resources and programs for prevention, care, and support for
10 individuals, families, and communities.
11 Sec. 2. EFFECTIVE DATE
12 This act shall take effect on July 1, 2023.
