doorkeepers, helping to maintain good order in the legislative chambers, and Whereas, in his role as head doorkeeper, Corny Reed assumed added supervisory responsibilities, especially for the young pages, who dash across the State House delivering vital messages to legislators and staff, and Whereas, during Corny Reed’s distinguished 26-year career as a Vermont State Police officer, he polished his skills through the completion of numerous law enforcement education courses and rose to the rank of sergeant, and Whereas, his leadership among retired State employees has included serving as
president of both the Vermont Retired Troopers Association and the Vermont Retired State Employees Association, and Whereas, in his hometown of Wolcott, Corny Reed serves as a cemetery commissioner,
as a justice of the peace, and he successfully chairs the municipality’s Board of Civil Authority, and Whereas, Corny Reed, who is revered among legislators, staff, and regular attendees at
State House proceedings, is hanging up his green jacket for the final time, and the legislative community wishes him all the best, now therefore be it Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives:
That the General Assembly honors its venerable head doorkeeper, Cornelius F. Reed Jr.
of Wolcott, and be it further Resolved: That the Secretary of State be directed to send a copy of this resolution to
Corny Reed.
