Offered by: Representatives Lefebvre of Orange and Lippert of Hinesburg Whereas, George Severance spent his youth in Shoreham, and Whereas, in 1962, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and proudly served on the maiden cruise of the aircraft carrier USS Enterprise, and Whereas, after his naval discharge in 1965, George Severance started a successful career at IBM that lasted more than three decades, and Whereas, while gainfully employed, he pursued a college degree, majoring in business,
with an education minor that later proved important, and Whereas, upon retiring from IBM, George Severance became an educator, working at
Winooski High School, Hinesburg Middle School, and, for over 15 years, at Mount Mansfield Union High School, and Whereas, George Severance, who was an avid golfer, and New York Yankees and New York Giants fan, died on April 3, 2022, and his survivors include his wife, Martha, children,
and grandchildren, now therefore be it Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives:
That the General Assembly expresses its sincere condolences to the family of George
H. Severance, and be it further Resolved: That the Secretary of State be directed to send a copy of this resolution to
Martha Severance in Hinesburg.
