Senate Concurrent Resolution No. 4 recognizes Pflugerville, Texas, for its extensive trail network, which includes over 71 miles of public trails, making it the city with the highest number of trails per capita in the state. The resolution highlights that approximately 94.8% of Pflugerville residents live within half a mile of a trail, with 70% using them regularly. The trails not only promote exercise and recreation but also enhance community engagement through cultural activities and events, while contributing to reduced traffic congestion by connecting neighborhoods, schools, and businesses.
In light of these accomplishments, the resolution designates Pflugerville as the official Trail Capital of Texas, reflecting the city's commitment to improving the health and well-being of its community. This designation will remain in effect until the 10th anniversary of the resolution's passage by the legislature. The resolution was adopted by both the Senate and the House, receiving overwhelming support from lawmakers.
