SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 24
               WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  recognize the Floresville Peanut Festival in honor of its annual
  event, which will take place October 7 through 9, 2021; and
 
               WHEREAS, The Floresville Peanut Festival was established
  in 1938 to promote peanuts as a valuable farm commodity and to
  express pride in the worldwide success of Wilson County's
  diversified farming program; Joe T. Sheehy, who pioneered the
  crop in the county, became known as "the Peanut King of Southwest
  Texas"; and
 
               WHEREAS, Governor-elect W. Lee O'Daniel and his renowned
  Hillbilly Boys band were invited to headline the inaugural event;
  Elizabeth Sheehy was named Queen Tunaep I, and some years later,
  Governor John Connally was crowned King Reboog I in a nod to the
  event's tradition of naming its royalty by spelling various names
  for peanuts backwards; and
 
               WHEREAS, Since its establishment, the Floresville Peanut
  Festival has been a cultural mainstay in the community, and it is
  truly fitting that it receive special recognition; now,
  therefore, be it
 
               RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th
  Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby commend the organizers and
  sponsors of the Floresville Peanut Festival and extend to them best
  wishes for a successful and rewarding event; and, be it further
 
               RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  them as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
