HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION 1415

A RESOLUTION to recognize Rhonda Thurman on the occasion of her retirement from the Hamilton County School Board.
WHEREAS, it is fitting that we should specially recognize those estimable public servants who have dedicated themselves to improving the educational experiences of the children of Tennessee; and WHEREAS, Rhonda Thurman is one such estimable individual, who has served with probity as a member of the Hamilton County School Board for two decades and is taking her retirement from that august body this year; and WHEREAS, during her two-decade tenure representing District 1, Mrs. Thurman has distinguished herself as a public-spirited citizen of the highest order and as an exceptional asset to her community, championing impactful education reform to increase students' competency and working across the district to support students facing hardship; and WHEREAS, her many accomplishments as a school board member include fighting to
upgrade Soddy Daisy Middle School's facilities through a new building, working to expand Sale Creek Middle School with a new wing that relocated students from portable classrooms,
localizing a football field to Sale Creek so students could play home games, and increasing driving accessibility at Daisy Elementary School with a new entrance; and WHEREAS, a champion for taxpayers, Mrs. Thurman also encouraged central office policies that boosted efficiencies for the benefit of Hamilton County taxpayers; and WHEREAS, in addition to her work on the Hamilton County School Board, Mrs. Thurman is a professional hairdresser and the owner of Allure Beauty Salon, and she is known throughout the community for her work ethic and singular ability as a stylist; and HJR1415

WHEREAS, throughout her estimable career, Mrs. Thurman has demonstrated the utmost professionalism, ability, and integrity, winning the respect and admiration of the citizens of Hamilton County; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED
THIRTEENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, THE SENATE
CONCURRING, that we honor Rhonda Thurman on the occasion of her retirement from the Hamilton County School Board, thank her for all she has done to improve the quality of
education in this State, salute her professional expertise and personal excellence, and extend to
her our heartfelt wishes for a happy and fulfilling retirement and every continued success in the future.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that an appropriate copy of this resolution be prepared for presentation with this final clause omitted from such copy and upon proper request made to
the appropriate clerk, the language appearing immediately following the State seal appear without House or Senate designation.
