By Williams AN ACT to amend Chapter 78 of the Private Acts of 2014; and any other acts amendatory thereto, relative to the charter for the City of Algood.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE:
SECTION 1. Chapter 78 of the Private Acts of 2014, and any other acts amendatory thereto, is amended by deleting Article I, Section 1.01 and substituting:
Section 1.01. City of Algood. Be it further enacted, that the City of
Algood in the County of Putnam, and the inhabitants thereof be, and are hereby constituted a body politic and corporate, under and by the name of the City of
Algood, and by that name shall have perpetual succession, may sue, be sued,
plead and be impleaded, grant, receive, purchase, and hold real, mixed, and personal property, lease, or dispose of the same for the benefit of said City, and may have and use a corporate seal.
SECTION 2. Chapter 78 of the Private Acts of 2014, and any other acts amendatory thereto, is amended in Article I, Section 1.04 by deleting subparagraph (e) and substituting instead the following:
(e) To acquire, dispose of, lease, or hold in trust or otherwise any real, personal,
or mixed property, inside or outside the city.
SECTION 3. This act shall have no effect unless it is approved by a two-thirds (2/3) vote of the legislative body of the City of Algood. Its approval or nonapproval shall be proclaimed by
the presiding officer of the legislative body and certified to the secretary of state.
SECTION 4. For the purpose of approving or rejecting the provisions of this act, it shall be effective upon becoming a law, the public welfare requiring it. For all other purposes, it shall become effective as provided in Section 3.
