A RESOLUTION to honor the memory of Paul Wayne "Pete"
Stinnett of Harriman.
WHEREAS, the members of this General Assembly were greatly saddened to learn of
the passing of Paul Wayne "Pete" Stinnett; and WHEREAS, Pete Stinnett was an exemplary gentleman and consummate professional who worked assiduously to improve the quality of life for his fellow citizens in numerous capacities; and WHEREAS, born in Kingston on December 16, 1947, to Clint and Elizabeth Stinnett, Mr.
Stinnett was a criminal investigator for thirteen years and retired from the Kingston City Police Department; and WHEREAS, he also served in the U.S. Marines and the U.S. Army, retiring from the military at the rank of Sergeant First Class; and WHEREAS, concerned for the well-being of his community and its youngest members,
Mr. Stinnett was also the founder of the DARE Program in the Roane County public school system; and WHEREAS, a faithful member of the Church of God, he was also deeply devoted to his family, and he always endeavored to remain true to family values of the highest order; and WHEREAS, Pete Stinnett is survived by his wife of forty-five years, Mary Louise Stinnett;
his daughter, Paula Louise Stinnett; his son, Frankie (Sophia) Stinnett; his grandchildren,
Joshua and Jasmyn Stinnett, Andrea Ladd, and Alexandria Stinnett; his great-grandchildren,
Kiari, Jackson, Jayci, Liliana, Kain, and Bowden; and his niece/sister, Cathy Ann Woodell; and SJR7007

WHEREAS, in addition to his parents, Mr. Stinnett was preceded in death by his stepmother, Geneva Stinnett; his daughter, Jacqueline Rucker; his sister, Betty Thomas; and his brother, Stewart "Sonny" Stinnett; and WHEREAS, Pete Stinnett leaves behind an indelible legacy of integrity and probity in
public life, compassion and loyalty in private life, and diligence and dedication in all his chosen endeavors; and WHEREAS, it is fitting that the members of this General Assembly should pause to
remember the bountiful life of this exceptional public servant and human being; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRTEENTH
GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, THE HOUSE OF
REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING, that we honor the memory of Paul Wayne "Pete"
Stinnett, reflecting fondly upon his impeccable character and his stalwart commitment to living the examined life with courage and conviction.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that we express our sympathy and offer our condolences to the family of Mr. Stinnett.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that an appropriate copy of this resolution be prepared for presentation with this final clause omitted from such copy and upon proper request made to
the appropriate clerk, the language appearing immediately following the State seal appear without House or Senate designation.
