A RESOLUTION to honor the memory of Michael Lee Aday, also known as Meat Loaf.
WHEREAS, the members of this General Assembly recognize the substantial impact musicians have on our culture; and WHEREAS, the late Michael Lee Aday, also known as Meat Loaf, was a talented actor and musician who possessed a powerful, wide-ranging voice and was renowned for his theatrical live performances; and WHEREAS, a multi-platinum recording artist, Meat Loaf sang such timeless songs as
"You Took the Words Right Out of My Mouth," "I'd Lie for You (and That's the Truth)," and "Two Out Of Three Ain't Bad"; in total, Meat Loaf has sold more than 100 million records worldwide;
and WHEREAS, Meat Loaf's trilogy has sold more than sixty-five million albums worldwide;
the first album of the trilogy stayed on the charts for over nine years, still sells an estimated
200,000 copies annually, and is on the list of best-selling albums of all time; and WHEREAS, Meat Loaf also starred in dozens of movies, including Spice World, Fight Club, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, and Wayne's World; and WHEREAS, Meat Loaf received numerous awards, including a Grammy Award for Best Solo Rock Vocal Performance for "I'd Do Anything for Love"; and WHEREAS, his stage work included dual roles in the original Broadway cast of The Rocky Horror Picture Show and appearances in the musical Hair; and WHEREAS, Meat Loaf is survived by his wife, Deborah, and two daughters, Pearl and Amanda; and HJR0461

WHEREAS, we wish to honor Meat Loaf's enduring legacy in popular music and American culture; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED
THIRTEENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, THE SENATE
CONCURRING, that we honor the memory of Michael Lee Aday, also known as Meat Loaf,
reflecting upon the impact that his voice and character have made on many generations.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that we join with Meat Loaf's many fans in stating, we will
"love you to the end of time."
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that an appropriate copy of this resolution be prepared for presentation with this final clause omitted from such copy and upon proper request made to
the appropriate clerk, the language appearing immediately following the State seal appear without House or Senate designation.
