HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION 384

A RESOLUTION to honor the memory of Paul Theodore Dunn III
of Knoxville.
WHEREAS, the members of this General Assembly were greatly saddened to learn of
the passing of Paul Theodore Dunn III, the brother of our esteemed former colleague Representative Bill Dunn; and WHEREAS, Paul Dunn III was an exemplary public servant and consummate professional who worked assiduously to improve the quality of life for his fellow citizens in
numerous capacities; and WHEREAS, an alumnus of St. Joseph School, Mr. Dunn was a 1980 graduate of
Knoxville Catholic High School, where he was voted Most Spirited by his senior class; and WHEREAS, Paul Dunn III spent most of his adult life working for Tennessee Right to
Life, initiating many projects that, to this day, serve to educate the community about the issue of
life; and WHEREAS, Mr. Dunn was a devout and lifelong member of Holy Ghost Catholic Church,
which he served faithfully in numerous capacities over the years; and WHEREAS, he was also deeply devoted to his family, and he always endeavored to
remain true to family values of the highest order; and WHEREAS, left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Marieta Dunn; parents, Paul
T. Dunn, Jr., and Mary Kuster Dunn; brothers, Bill (Stacy) Dunn, Frank (Christy) Dunn, David
(Diannah) Dunn, and Peter (Susannah) Dunn; sisters, Rita (Mark) Cook, Sarah Dunn, Gina
(Scott) Martin, and Rebecca Bush; and several nieces and nephews; and WHEREAS, Mr. Dunn leaves behind an indelible legacy of integrity and probity in public life, compassion and loyalty in private life, and diligence and dedication in all his chosen endeavors; and HJR0384

WHEREAS, it is fitting that the members of this General Assembly should pause to
remember the bountiful life of this exceptional public servant and human being; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED
THIRTEENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, THE SENATE
CONCURRING, that we honor the memory of Paul Theodore Dunn III, reflecting fondly upon his impeccable character and his stalwart commitment to living the examined life with courage and conviction.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that we express our sympathy and offer our condolences to the family of Mr. Dunn.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that an appropriate copy of this resolution be prepared for presentation with this final clause omitted from such copy and upon proper request made to
the appropriate clerk, the language appearing immediately following the State seal appear without House or Senate designation.
