A RESOLUTION to recognize Victoria Arlen and Siskin Hospital on the occasion of the 20th annual Possibilities Luncheon.
WHEREAS, the members of this General Assembly take great pride in recognizing those individuals and organizations that strive to make their respective communities even better places to live by improving the quality of life for their fellow citizens; and WHEREAS, one such organization is Siskin Hospital for Physical Rehabilitation in
Chattanooga, which is dedicated exclusively to physical rehabilitation and is nationally known for providing exceptional rehabilitation care through a full continuum of patient care services;
and WHEREAS, to support its Charity Care Funds, Siskin Hospital hosts only one community-wide fundraising event, the Possibilities Luncheon, with all proceeds used to provide services for patients without insurance coverage for the cost of care; and WHEREAS, this year marks the twentieth anniversary of the Possibilities Luncheon and will feature Victoria Arlen, an ESPN on-air personality, actress, speaker, model, and Paralympic athlete and medalist; and WHEREAS, an inspirational woman, Ms. Arlen was diagnosed at the age of eleven with two rare medical conditions, transverse myelitis and acute disseminated encephalomyelitis,
which caused her to lose the ability to speak, eat, walk, or move; and WHEREAS, locked inside her body and unable to communicate for four years, Ms. Arlen embarked upon her inspirational road to recovery after doctors prescribed medication to reduce her seizures, enabling her to reclaim her life; and HJR0372

WHEREAS, attendees at the 2023 Possibilities Luncheon will hear Victoria Arlen share her motivational message and her personal motto of "Face it, Embrace it, Defy it, Conquer It!"
that are truly words to live by; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED
THIRTEENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, THE SENATE
CONCURRING, that we honor and commend Victoria Arlen and Siskin Hospital on the twentieth anniversary of the Possibilities Luncheon, salute their commitment to excellence, and extend to
them our best wishes for much continued success in all their future endeavors.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that an appropriate copy of this resolution be prepared for presentation with this final clause omitted from such copy and upon proper request made to
the appropriate clerk, the language appearing immediately following the State seal appear without House or Senate designation.
