                                             By Ragan AN ACT to amend Tennessee Code Annotated, Title 4 and Title 49, relative to Tennessee State University.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE:
       SECTION 1. Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 49-8-803, is amended by deleting the section and substituting the following:
               (a) On or before July 1, 2023, and on or before July 1 of each subsequent year,
       Tennessee State University (TSU) shall submit a report to the governor and the members of the general assembly detailing the progress of improvements to TSU's facilities and infrastructure and how the improvements address the needs identified in
       the Tennessee higher education commission's evaluation of facilities and infrastructure needs for TSU on September 1, 2021, which is based upon a third-party consultant's facility condition assessment of September 2020.
               (b) The chair of the government operations committee of the senate and the chair of the government operations committee of the house of representatives shall review the report submitted under subsection (a) to determine, in accordance with title 4,
       chapter 29, part 1, if a review of TSU by the appropriate joint evaluation committee is
       needed based upon the university's progress of improvements in the report.
       SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon becoming a law, the public welfare requiring it.

by deleting all language after the enacting clause and substituting the following:
       SECTION 1. Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 4-29-244(a), is amended by deleting subdivision (39).
       SECTION 2. Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 4-29-246(a), is amended by inserting the following as a new subdivision:
               ( ) Tennessee State University, board of trustees, created by §§ 49-8-101 and
       49-8-201;
       SECTION 3. This act takes effect upon becoming a law, the public welfare requiring it.
