By Grills AN ACT to amend Tennessee Code Annotated, Title 38
and Title 39, relative to criminal offenses.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE:
SECTION 1. Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 39-11-106(a)(24), is amended by
designating the existing language as subdivision (a)(24)(A) and adding the following new subdivision (a)(24)(B):
"Law enforcement officer" includes a sheriff, sheriff's deputy, and, only for purposes of the enhancement of a crime, a deputy jailer;
SECTION 2. Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 39-13-116(d)(1)(B), is amended by
deleting the language "Tennessee wildlife resources agency officers," and substituting
"Tennessee wildlife resources agency officers, deputy jailers,".
SECTION 3. This act takes effect July 1, 2023, the public welfare requiring it.
