By Love AN ACT to amend Tennessee Code Annotated, Title 49,
Chapter 1; Title 49, Chapter 13 and Title 49,
Chapter 6, relative to accountability.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE:
SECTION 1. Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 49-1-602(a), is amended by adding the following as a new subdivision:
If a student transfers from a public charter school to an LEA in the spring semester of a school year, then the student's performance and growth data derived from the Tennessee comprehensive assessment program (TCAP) tests and end-of-course examinations administered to the student in that school year must be used to determine the public charter school's performance designation.
SECTION 2. Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 49-1-228, is amended by adding the following as a new subsection:
If a student transfers from a public charter school to an LEA in the spring semester of a school year, then the student's performance and growth data derived from the Tennessee comprehensive assessment program (TCAP) tests and end-of-course examinations administered to the student in that school year must be used to assign a letter grade to the public charter school.
SECTION 3. This act takes effect upon becoming a law, the public welfare requiring it,
and applies to the 2022-2023 school year and each school year thereafter.
