House Bill 1226

An Act to make an appropriation to the Department of Education for grants to support the provision of telemedicine in school districts.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of South Dakota:

Section 1. There is hereby appropriated $5,000,000 in federal fund expenditure authority, for the expenditure of state fiscal recovery fund American Rescue Plan Act moneys, to the Department of Education, for purposes of providing grants to school districts to support the provision of telemedicine to students.

Section 2. The secretary of the Department of Education shall approve vouchers and the state auditor shall draw warrants to pay expenditures authorized by this Act.

Section 3. Any amounts appropriated in this Act not lawfully expended or obligated shall revert in accordance with the procedures prescribed in chapter 4-8.

Section 4. This Act is effective June 30, 2024.
