Vicki Virgilio has been an active participant in the labor movement since her early years, accompanying her father to union meetings and events. She officially joined Local Union 1033 in 1978 as a Legal Secretary in the City Solicitor’s Office of Providence. Over the years, she has served as a Union Steward, participated in labor strikes, and held positions such as Recording Secretary and Trustee of various public employee funds. Her dedication extended to serving on the Women’s and Minority Caucus of the Laborers’ International Union of North America and as a Delegate to the RI Central Federated Council and The Laborers’ District Council.
The resolution acknowledges Vicki Virgilio's 45 years of commitment to fighting for workers' rights, including job protection, working conditions, benefits, and fair wages. Her contributions to Rhode Island’s working families are celebrated as she retires from her long-standing service. The House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island congratulates her on her retirement, wishes her health and happiness in the future, and directs the Secretary of State to provide her with a certified copy of the resolution.
