This bill amends the licensing requirements for physical therapists. It allows a graduate of a board-approved physical therapy school to perform as a physical therapist under the supervision of a licensed physical therapist, but only for a limited period of time. During this period, the graduate must identify themselves as a "graduate physical therapist." If the graduate fails to take or pass the required examination within a certain timeframe, their privileges automatically cease. However, the bill also allows for the reinstatement of these privileges if the graduate files and registers for a second or third examination. The bill also includes provisions for accepting the credentials of foreign-trained applicants who have met the requirements established by the board. This bill would take effect upon passage.
