This resolution proposes appropriating $100,000 to the public utilities commission in order to hire additional experts to develop a microgrid services tariff. Microgrids are seen as a way to increase local and statewide resiliency to extreme weather events and manage system constraints. Despite Rhode Island's renewable energy goals, microgrids have not yet been incorporated into the grid functionality. The resolution aims to encourage the development of microgrids in order to meet the state's Act on Climate goals and other energy policies.
