This bill amends the Edward O. Hawkins and Thomas C. Slater Medical Marijuana Act to require individuals involved in the medical marijuana industry to undergo a national criminal background check as part of their application or renewal process. This requirement applies to owners, officers, directors, managers, employees, and individuals with a business interest in compassion centers, medical marijuana cultivators, marijuana establishments, medical marijuana emporiums, and individuals holding a registry identification card. If an individual has pleaded guilty, nolo contendere, or has been convicted of a felony offense, their application will be denied. This bill will take effect upon passage.
