This bill amends the General Laws in Chapter 17-20 entitled "Mail Ballots" to modify the timeline for submitting applications for mail-in ballots. Currently, an elector must submit an application at least twenty-one days prior to the day of the election. This bill changes that timeline to fourteen days prior to the day of the election. Additionally, the bill modifies the timeline for submitting applications for emergency mail ballots. Currently, an elector must submit an application at least twenty days prior to the day of the election. This bill changes that timeline to thirteen days prior to the day of the election. The bill also includes provisions for the validity of mail ballots and emergency mail ballots, including requirements for signatures and procedures for different types of mail ballots. The bill takes effect upon passage.
