This bill amends the requirements for obtaining a hoisting engineer's license. It adds new requirements, including the need for a certificate of registration from the department of labor and training for at least three years prior to applying, as well as an affidavit from former employers showing that the applicant has worked as an apprentice hoisting engineer in Rhode Island for 6,000 hours over a three-year period. The bill also requires the completion of 120 hours of related instruction at a recognized training program. Additionally, the bill imposes penalties for knowingly making false statements on the license application. The bill also requires applicants for certain types of licenses to include a valid medical health card or a copy of their OSHA forklift certification with their application.
