This bill amends current law regarding eligibility requirements for medical care benefits and the administration of the supplemental nutrition assistance program (SNAP). The bill adds new language that disregards an increase in a recipient's income due solely to a cost-of-living adjustment to Social Security and Railroad Retirement payments when determining eligibility for medical assistance and SNAP benefits. The bill also changes the name of the food stamp program to the supplemental nutrition assistance program (SNAP) and authorizes the department to pay 100% of the state's share of the administrative costs for the program. This bill would take effect upon passage.
