RELATING TO HEALTH AND SAFETY -- REFUSE DISPOSAL

It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:
1 SECTION 1. Chapter 23-18.9 of the General Laws entitled "Refuse Disposal" is hereby
2 amended by adding thereto the following section:
3 23-18.9-19. Curbside pickup.
4 (a) Any city or town entering into a new contract with a waste management or trash pickup
5 service and/or renewing a contract with a waste management or trash pickup service shall not
6 require residents to pay for curbside mattress pickup or disposal.
7 (b) If the city or town manages their own waste management or trash pickup services, they
8 shall not charge residents a fee for curbside mattress pickup or disposal.
9 SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage.
