This bill adds new sections to Chapter 11-11 of the General Laws entitled "Disorderly Conduct." The new sections define terms such as "civil, social, and fraternal association" and "educational institution." The bill also prohibits threats of mass violence and false reports of threats to any educational or religious institution, as well as any activity sponsored by these institutions or by civic, social, or fraternal associations. Violation of these prohibitions would be considered a misdemeanor. The bill also allows the court to set reasonable conditions of release for defendants charged with these offenses in order to ensure the safety of the community. This bill would take effect upon passage.
