RELATING TO HEALTH AND SAFETY -- STATE BUILDING CODE

It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:
1 SECTION 1. Chapter 23-27.3 of the General Laws entitled "State Building Code" is hereby
2 amended by adding thereto the following section:
3 23-27.3-129.4. Refrigerants.
4 No provision of the Rhode Island building code, or any other law, regulation, or other
5 requirement in Rhode Island, may prohibit or otherwise limit the use of a refrigerant designated as
6 acceptable for use pursuant to and in accordance with the provisions of 42 U.S.C. 7671k; provided
7 any equipment containing such refrigerant is listed and installed in accordance with safety standards
8 and use conditions imposed pursuant to such designation.
9 SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage.

1 This act would bring state law into federal compliance by prohibiting or otherwise limiting
2 the use of refrigerants designated as acceptable pursuant to 42 U.S.C. 7671k as long as the
3 refrigerant is listed and installed in accordance with the designated safety standards and use
4 conditions.
5 This act would take effect upon passage.
