This bill amends the title of Chapter 12-1.4 of the General Laws to read "Commission for the Safety and Care of the Elderly" instead of "Citizens' Commission for the Safety and Care of the Elderly." It also amends several sections of the law, including the purpose of the commission, the membership of the commission, and the cooperation of departments. The bill requires designated representatives within the police and fire departments to serve as older adults' safety advocates. The commission is also required to report its findings and recommendations to the general assembly, the governor's office, and the office of healthy aging on or before January 25 of each year. This bill would take effect upon passage.
