This bill amends the General Laws to require schools with students who have diabetes to provide training to all school employees on diabetes care. The training would cover basics of diabetes care, recognizing symptoms of hypoglycemia and hyperglycemia, estimating carbohydrates in meals, administering insulin, and responding to emergencies. Delegated care aides would also receive training on assisting students with diabetes. The bill also allows schools to maintain an undesignated supply of glucagon for emergency purposes. The bill would take effect upon passage.
