This bill amends Chapter 42-6 of the General Laws to require state departments, boards, divisions, bureaus, commissions, and agencies to design and code their public access websites in compliance with the web content accessibility guidelines 2.1 (WCAG 2.1) or a subsequent version published by the Web Accessibility Initiative of the World Wide Web Consortium at a level AA success criteria. Existing websites must be redesigned and coded to comply with these standards by July 1, 2028. The director of each state department or the executive/administrative head of each state agency/entity must post a signed certification on the website's homepage stating that the website is in compliance with these standards. Municipalities are strongly encouraged to adopt similar standards for their websites. The bill takes effect upon passage.
