In the near future, I intend to introduce legislation establishing the Meritorious Service Medal special registration plate.

This medal was established in 1969 for the recognition of meritorious noncombatant service to any member of the United States Armed Forces. Military personnel who receive this medal are recognized for individual leadership, flexibility and close attention to the mission throughout the United States and abroad.

A constituent recently contacted me expressing support for this plate to distinguish the decorated service of men and women on active military duty. In many cases, this prestigious medal was awarded during deployment in direct support of military operations, including, and not limited to, Vietnam, Desert Storm, Southern Watch, Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom.

Please join me in co-sponsoring this legislation to recognize Pennsylvanians who proudly received the Meritorious Service Medal when defending the United States.
