Giving to charity and those in need is an important characteristic of a healthy society.  The spirit of giving is good for both the recipients and the providers of charity.  Successful charitable endeavors over the years include the near elimination of Guinea worm disease and bringing to heel polio disease.  Scientific studies show numerous health benefits of giving to charity including lower risk of high blood pressure.

My concurrent resolution seeks to recognize the importance of charitable giving over the holidays by recognizing December 2022 as “National Giving Month” in Pennsylvania.  As a third of all charitable giving happens in December, designating December as “National Giving Month” recognizes and encourages the charitable spirit in Pennsylvania.  Please join me in co-sponsoring this meaningful legislation.
