AN ACT
1 Imposing a duty on the Legislative Budget and Finance Committee
2 to conduct a study relating to effects of certain areas of
3 criminal law enforcement on budget of the Pennsylvania State
4 Police.
5 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
6 hereby enacts as follows:
7 Section 1. Short title.
8 This act shall be known and may be cited as the Legislative
9 Budget and Finance Committee Study on Pennsylvania State Police
10 Act.
11 Section 2. Study to be conducted.
12 The Legislative Budget and Finance Committee shall conduct a
13 study on the budgetary impact on the Pennsylvania State Police,
14 including its complement, as a result of:
15 (1) providing law enforcement services to municipalities
16 that do not have their own police departments or other law
17 enforcement personnel;
18 (2) enforcing the provisions of the act of April 17,
19 2016 (P.L.84, No.16), known as the Medical Marijuana Act;
 1 (3) enforcing the criminal laws of this Commonwealth
2 that prohibit the possession or use of marijuana; and
3 (4) enforcing the criminal laws of this Commonwealth
4 that prohibit illegal gaming activities.
5 Section 3. Report to be prepared and filed.
6 The Legislative Budget and Finance Committee shall prepare a
7 written report of the results of the study conducted under
8 section 2 and shall file the report with the Senate and the
9 House of Representatives no later than December 31, 2021.
10 Section 4. Effective date.
11 This act shall take effect in 60 days.
