7 An Act relating to the practice of pharmacy; amending
7 59 O.S. 2021, Section 353.30, which relates to use of
8 agreements; modifying terminology; authorizing
8 pharmacist to perform certain services under certain
9 conditions; directing promulgation of rules;
9 clarifying language; and providing an effective date.

12 BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA:

13 SECTION 1. AMENDATORY 59 O.S. 2021, Section 353.30, is
13
14 amended to read as follows:
14
15 Section 353.30. A. The use of collaborative practice
15
16 agreements in the practice of pharmacy shall be acceptable permitted
16
17 within the rules promulgated by the State Board of Pharmacy under
17
18 subsection C of this section and in consultation with the State
18
19 Board of Medical Licensure and Supervision and the State Board of
19
20 Osteopathic Examiners.

21 B. The Board shall develop and prepare permanent rules relating
21
22 to training requirements and administration of immunizations and
22
23 therapeutic injections in consultation within the State Board of
23

2 Examiners.

3 C. A pharmacist who has completed a requisite course of
3
4 training as approved by the Board in consultation with the State
4
5 Board of Medical Licensure and Supervision and the State Board of
5
6 Osteopathic Examiners may administer:
6
7 1. Administer therapeutic injections on orders from a licensed
7
8 prescriber, and may administer immunizations that have been approved
8
9 or authorized by the Food and Drug Administration without a patient-
9
10 specific prescription, standing order or similar arrangement;
10
11 2. Prescribe and dispense oral preventive contraceptive drugs
11
12 under a collaborative practice agreement with an allopathic
12
13 physician or osteopathic physician in accordance with the rules
13
14 promulgated by the Board under subsection C of this section; and
14
15 3. Administer preventive contraceptive injections under a
15
16 collaborative practice agreement with an allopathic physician or
16
17 osteopathic physician in accordance with the rules promulgated by
17
18 the Board under subsection C of this section.
18
19 C. The Board shall, in consultation with the State Board of
19
20 Medical Licensure and Supervision and the State Board of Osteopathic
20
21 Examiners, promulgate rules to implement the provisions of this
21
22 section. Such rules shall include, but not be limited to, training
22
23 requirements pertaining to the services described in subsection B of
23
24 this section.

1 SECTION 2. This act shall become effective November 1, 2023.
