7 An Act relating to the practice of pharmacy; amending
7 59 O.S. 2021, Section 353.30, which relates to
8 agreements; modifying term; authorizing pharmacist to
8 enter into collaborative practice agreements;
9 directing promulgation of rules; defining term; and
9 providing an effective date.

12 BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA:

13 SECTION 1. AMENDATORY 59 O.S. 2021, Section 353.30, is
13
14 amended to read as follows:
14
15 Section 353.30. A. The use of collaborative practice
15
16 agreements in the practice of pharmacy shall be acceptable within
16
17 the rules promulgated by the State Board of Pharmacy and in
17
18 consultation with the State Board of Medical Licensure and
18
19 Supervision and the State Board of Osteopathic Examiners. A
19
20 pharmacist may enter into a collaborative practice agreement with
20
21 one or more practitioners licensed in this state.

22 B. The Board shall develop and prepare permanent rules relating
22
23 to collaborative practice agreements including, but not limited to,
23
24 training requirements and administration of immunizations and

1 therapeutic injections in consultation within the State Board of

2 Medical Licensure and Supervision and the State Board of Osteopathic
2
3 Examiners.

4 C. A pharmacist who has completed a requisite course of
4
5 training as approved by the Board in consultation with the State
5
6 Board of Medical Licensure and Supervision and the State Board of
6
7 Osteopathic Examiners may administer therapeutic injections on
7
8 orders from a licensed prescriber, and may administer immunizations
8
9 that have been approved or authorized by the Food and Drug
9
10 Administration without a patient-specific prescription, standing
10
11 order or similar arrangement.

12 D. As used in this section, “collaborative practice agreement”
12
13 means a formal agreement in which a licensed practitioner makes a
13
14 diagnosis, supervises patient care, and refers patients to a
14
15 pharmacist under a protocol that allows the pharmacist to perform
15
16 specific patient care functions including, but not limited to,
16
17 administration of immunizations and therapeutic injections.

18 SECTION 2. This act shall become effective November 1, 2023.
