7 An Act relating to daylight saving time; establishing
7 daylight time in this state; specifying effect on
8 certain actions; exempting Oklahoma from the federal
8 standard time provision; authorizing future action;
9 providing that act shall take effect on certain
9 authorization; providing for codification; and
10 providing a conditional effective date.

13 BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA:

14 SECTION 1. NEW LAW A new section of law to be codified
14
15 in the Oklahoma Statutes as Section 90.26 of Title 25, unless there
15
16 is created a duplication in numbering, reads as follows:

17 A. The standard time in Oklahoma shall be known as Central
17
18 Daylight Time (CDT).
18
19 B. This section shall not be construed to affect the standard
19
20 time established by United States law governing the movements of
20
21 common carriers engaged in interstate commerce or the time for
21
22 performance of an act by an officer or department of the United
22
23 States, as established by a statute, lawful order, rule, or
23
24 regulation of the United States or an agency thereof.

 1 C. As authorized by the Uniform Time Act of 1966, as amended,
1
2 and notwithstanding any other provisions of law to the contrary by
2
3 the United States government relating to adoption of daylight saving
3
4 time by all of the states, this state elects to adopt such time and
4
5 elects to continue in force the terms of subsection A of this
5
6 section relating to the year-round daylight standard time in
6
7 Oklahoma.

8 D. The adopting of daylight saving time as provided for in this
8
9 section may be changed by future legislative action.

10 SECTION 2. This act shall take effect only if the United States
10
11 Congress amends federal law that permits states to enter upon and
11
12 permanently observe daylight saving time.
